William Fraser London. Georgian mahogany stick barometer

Most attractive and unusual Georgian mahogany Stick Barometer in essentially original condition; with moulded domed hood over engraved, silvered brass register plate, signed by the maker, bearing rack-and-pinion operated vernier, and protected by glazed cover. The trunk, of faded figured mahogany, strung in ebony, with original cistern barometer tube terminating behind urn shaped cistern cover.

A noted Mathematical Instrument-maker with retail premises at 3 New Bond St. from c1780-1818. The business was subsequently acquired, successively, by two ex-apprentices, William Hawkes Grice and the equally illustrious Charles Wastell Dixey.
