Most attractive and unusual, early 19th Century mahogany Stick Barometer. The arched top with delicately engraved, silvered brass register plate bearing manually-operated vernier slide. The slender trunk, inlaid with boxwood and ebony banding, concealing original barometer cistern tube, which terminated within urn shaped cistern cover.

An eminent instrument-maker, Banks was Optician to the Prince of Wales [later George IV], trading from premises at 440 and 441 Strand, London.
