This barometer is made to the same specification as Dollond’s iconic “Fisherman’s Aneroid Barometer”. The Royal Navy used these as reserve barometers in the event that the mercury instrument(s) were broken. HMS Lurcher was one of twenty-nine destroyers of the ‘Acheron’ Class, launched in 1912, which proved amazingly fast. She served as support vessel in Britain’s submarine activities in WWI.
