c 1820
Fine quality, early 19th Century mahogany Stick Barometer in original condition. Perhaps the most renowned of barometer makers, the firm of Dollond was founded in the mid-18th Century by Huguenot immigrant Peter Dollond [who subsequently became Instrument Maker and Optician to King George II and George III] and which flourished throughout the 19th Century, until its eventual acquisition by Aitchison in 1913.
