Very fine quality and
unusual Regency rosewood brass-inlaid Wheel
Barometer; the ‘swan-neck’ pediment
over unusually shaped and small proportioned
case, veneered in 'Rio' rosewood, inlaid with
brass floral motifs and stringing, and inset
with well engraved silvered brass hygrometer,
long detachable Fahrenheit thermometer, signed
6-inch diameter main barometer dial, and spirit
level, decorated with floral designs, typical
of the maker’s output.

A highly talented engraver/barometer
maker who operated from premises, initially
in Soho, and thereafter in east London from
c1790 for around 50 years up to his retirement
in 1840, when his son, for many years in partnership
with him, continued the business until c1860.
