pediment over case, veneered in ‘flame’
Cuban mahogany and inset with delicately engraved
silvered brass hygrometer, long detachable Fahrenheit
thermometer, signed 8-inch diameter main barometer
and spirit level decorated with floral motifs,
typical of the Amadio family’s work.

The talented second son of
the renowned Francis Amadio [who worked for
around 40 years up to 1840 from premises in
east London]. Joseph, following his apprenticeship
with his father, operated from 3 Shorter's Court,Throgmorton
St. from 1840-62.
