18th Century inlaid mahogany Wheel Barometer;
the well- proportioned case, with arched top
and cross-grained sides, chequer strung, inlaid
with delicate stylised fan paterae and inset
with finely engraved silvered brass Fahrenheit
thermometer and 8in. diameter barometer dial,
signed by the maker.

A leading Italian immigrant Barometer-maker
who worked from various addresses in Holborn,
as a specialist engraver, from around 1785,
and whose descendents continued the firm through
into the 20th Century.
