Fine Antique Barometers

Francis Amadio - London

Very fine quality, early 19th Century inlaid mahogany Wheel Barometer; the break-arch pediment over case, veneered in Cuban mahogany, chequer strung, inlaid with bold fan paterae and inset with well engraved silvered brass Fahrenheit thermometer and signed 8-inch diameter barometer dial with horizontally aligned weather notations, both dials profusely decorated with stylised floral designs.

c1800

A highly talented engraver/barometer maker who operated from premises in east London from 1800 for around 40 years up to his retirement, when his son, for many years in partnership with him, continued the business until 1863. A significant barometer, as it is the only one ever recorded at the 262 High Holborn Address.
