Winwood – London.
Fine quality and unusual
18th Century carved mahogany Stick Barometer,
the reeded arched top over silvered brass register
plate, delicately engraved with floral motifs,
signed by the maker and dated "1764",
with unusual air-trap tube and flanked by twin
columns, supported on carved acanthus leaf brackets.
The register bears a simple cursor typical of
the period. The reeded trunk, with tube cover
terminates in square moulded cistern cover.
