Elegant early 19th
Century mahogany Stick Barometer; the case with
arched top over silvered brass register plate
classically engraved, signed by the maker and
bearing manually-operated vernier slide. The
trunk, edge moulded, with book-matched veneers,
with exposed barometer tube terminating within
hemispherical cistern cover.

The eminent firm of Watkins and Hill was a very
successful continuation of the business originally
founded by Francis Watkins in the mid 18th Century,
and which in the 20th Century was successively
acquired by Elliott Brothers, GEC and………..
Marconi.
