Fine and rare mid-18th
Century walnut Stick Barometer; the moulded
domed pediment surmounted by three brass ball
finials, over signed, engraved silvered brass
register plates which is flanked by twin brass
columns. The trunk of well-patinated walnut
with moulded edges and terminating in wrythen
turned cistern cover.

Nairne was a major force in 18th Century Instrument
making; his important developmental achievements
earning him his Royal Society fellowship in
1776. He worked from premises at 20 Cornhill
from c1745-88.
