Fine quality late 18th Century mahogany
Stick Barometer; the overhanging 'break-arch'
pediment, supported on side brackets, over well
engraved silvered brass register plate, signed
by the maker and bearing Fahrenheit thermometer
and sliding vernier scale The plate protected
by unusual shaped glazed door. The case chequer
strung, 'herringbone' veneered and thumbnail
moulded with cistern tube terminating behind
turned cistern cover with inset boxwood patera.

barometer-making community, centred in Holborn,
London, who settled in England around 1790.
