Fine quality 19th Century
'flame' mahogany Stick Barometer; the arched
top with well-engraved silvered brass register
plates, signed by the maker, bearing rack-and-pinion
operated vernier and protected by glazed cover;
the trunk, of faded 'flame' mahogany, with original
barometer tube terminating behind turned cistern
cover, also in 'flame' mahogany.

One of the most famous firms of Instrument
Makers, it was founded in the mid-18th Century
by the renowned Peter Dollond, and grew to become
one of the most innovative until well into the
20th Century.
