Attractive, inlaid
faded mahogany Stick Barometer; the lancet-shaped
top over engraved silvered brass register plate,
signed by the maker. The case profusely cross-banded
and strung in satinwood and ebony, with exposed
barometer tube terminating within hinged rectilinear
cistern cover, inset with oval floral patera.

Twaddell is recorded as a "glassblower
and hydrometer maker", working from premises
in Saltmarket and Gallowgate from 1792-1839.
