Joseph Hart - Birmingham
Very unusual late 18th Century inlaid
mahogany Stick Barometer; the break-arch pediment
over arched register plates [a singular juxtaposition],
signed by the maker. The well patinated trunk,
chevron banded, edge moulded, and with exposed
barometer tube terminating within hinged square
cistern cover inset with attractive oval floral
patera.

Hart was a noted Scientific Instrument
Maker and Optician, inheriting the business
from his father, William, and working from premises
in Digbeth and Dale End from 1785-1805.
