Very elegant and well
made late 18th Century mahogany Stick Barometer;
the large broken arch pediment, supported on
side brackets, over finely engraved register
plate, bearing Fahrenheit thermometer and unusually
decorated with Masonic symbols; the trunk, veneered
in well-patinated Cuban mahogany, edge moulded,
and with exposed barometer tube terminating
in turned cistern cover.

One of the foremost of Italian immigrant barometer
makers, who settled in Manchester around 1780,
working from premises in the High St. until
succeeded by his son, Joshua around 1815.
