William Cary - London
Very fine and unusual 19th Century figured mahogany, flat-to-the-wall, bow-fronted Stick Barometer, in original condition; the simple pediment, decorated with applied fretwork frieze, over excellent quality signed, engraved silvered brass register plates with rack-and-pinion operated vernier. Inset with Fahrenheit and Réaumur thermometer. The original barometer tube terminates behind shaped cistern cover. The back – most unusually – is also veneered. [dated 1832]
