top housing engraved silvered brass register
plate, signed by the maker and bearing mercury
Fahrenheit thermometer and rack-and-pinion operated
vernier. Glazed cover with unusual turned finials
beneath. The trunk veneered in figured Cuban
mahogany, with concealed original barometer
tube terminating behind turned cistern cover.
