Most elegant early
19th Century mahogany Marine Stick Barometer;
the slender case, square in cross-section with
bowed sides; the ring suspension, over engraved
ivory barometer register plates with manually
adjustable vernier, protected by a hinged door
inset with Fahrenheit thermometer plate. The
trunk, mounted on replaced hinged brass gimbals,
and with original constricted marine barometer
tube terminating within turned brass cistern
cover.

Son of highly respected Portsmouth instrument-maker,
George Stebbing, he is recorded at premises
at 36 High St. from 1819-32.
