on to mahogany back-board, with silvered brass
extended scale reading to 20 inches [510mm].
The rack-and-pinion operated vernier over Fahrenheit
and Centigrade Thermometer; the trunk with concealed
original cistern tube terminating in typical
Fortin type reservoir. The trunk bears the maker’s
signature and ‘Makers to the Admiralty
and Ordnance’
