Very fine quality and
unusual, early 20th Century oak Barograph in
essentially original condition; the case elegantly
shaped and moulded, with five bevelled glass
panels. The 7-capsule nickel silver aneroid
barometer stack movement and platform escapement
clock drum with original lacquer surface. Very
unusual ‘Art Nouveau’ style ancillary
dial. Twin compartment chart drawer, lined in
mahogany, to base. The barograph also bears
ivory retailer's plaque - Percy Webster, Great
Portland St.

James Hicks was one of the foremost UK meteorological
instrument makers, who prospered from c1860,
in Hatton Garden premises, until the firm’s
acquisition by Stanley in 1911
