Short & Mason - London
Very fine quality and unusual, early
20th Century Barograph; the oak case elegantly
shaped and moulded, with bevelled glass panels.
The 8-capsule nickel silver aneroid barometer
stack movement and platform escapement clock
drum with original lacquer surface. Chart drawer
to base with elaborate drop-handle.
The barograph bears an intriguing commemorative
plaque stating that it accompanied its owner,
Capt. Thomas Leigh Goldie, during several WW1
naval battles on the ‘Dreadnought’
battleship, HMS King George V, notably at the
Battle of Jutland in 1916.
c1910
